NSD '10: Announcement Watch
National Signing Day 2010 will be filled with announcements, decommitments, surprises, upsets, defections and more. Here are the names who will make news this year (all times eastern):
AC100 No. 1. Seantrel Henderson, OL (St. Paul, Minn.)
Finalists: Ohio State, Notre Dame, USC, Florida, Miami
The nation's top prospect has been a longtime USC lean, but when Pete Carroll bailed for the NFL, the Trojans lost momentum. Notre Dame and Ohio State stepped up and are now the favorites. All reports indicate the Buckeyes are the team to beat. He will make his pick on national television at 3 p.m. on CBS College Sports. Prediction: Ohio State
21. Da'Rick Rogers, WR (Calhoun, Ga.)
Finalists: Georgia, Tennessee
Rogers has been a longtime Bulldog commitment but the Vols have made a late push. All experts are pointing toward a Tennessee upset here (although, academics could be an issue). He is set to announce at 9 a.m. Prediction: Tennessee
26. Keenan Allen, ATH (Greensboro, N.C.)
Finalists: Alabama, Cal, Clemson
This do-everything athlete has been committed to Alabama for sometime. A late push by Clemson — aided by a potential transfer by his brother Zach Maynard — and Cal — helped by his desire to be with friends Gabe King and Chris McCain — have made this one much more interesting than Tide fans would have hoped. He will announce at 9 a.m. Prediction: Cal
30. Christian Green, ATH (Tampa, Fla.)
Finalists: Florida State, Georgia
Green's brother has recently decided he will attend Florida A&M. They have publicly stated that they want to stay close, and since FAMU is in Tallahassee, it appears that the Seminoles are a lock. He will announce at 3:30 p.m. Prediction: Florida State
31. Owamagbe Odighizuwa, DE (Portland, Ore.)
Finalists: Nebraska, Oregon State, UCLA
It is rumored that he wants to go to Nebraska and that his family wants him to stay close to home. So why then the late push by the Bruins? Experts seem to be split on this one but the feeling is the Huskers will win out when he announces at 2:30 p.m. Prediction: Nebraska
37. Markeith Ambles, WR (McDonough, Ga.)
Finalists: USC, North Carolina, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee
A longtime Tennessee commit is tied closely with the Kiffin regime that changed locations. He visited Knoxville last weekend and loved it. North Carolina and USC are making strong overtures as well. He is set to announce at 9 a.m. and he has the experts totally guessing at this point. Preditcion: USC
38. Corey Lemonier, DE (Hialeah, Fla.)
Finalists: Auburn, Florida State, Miami
The decision has reportedly been made for a few weeks now. Miami seems to be on the outside looking in and the momentum is with the Noles. He is set to announce at 12:30 p.m. Prediction: Auburn
43. Chaz Green, OL (Tampa, Fla.)
Finalists: Florida, Ohio State, USC
The big blocker has essentially narrowed his list to two and will announce with his teammate, Christian Green, at 3:30 p.m. The other Green appears to be headed to FSU, which would make him a bitter rival should this Green pick Florida. The Trojans do have a shot but the Gators are the favorite. Prediction: Florida
50. Sean Parker, S (Harbor City, Calif.)
Finalists: Michigan, USC, Washington
An excellent student and leader of the community has seen the Huskies make a strong push of late. USC and Michigan still seem to be the leaders though. Most are leaning toward the Maize and Blue but he is keeping quiet until his announcement on national TV. Prediction: Michigan
55. Christian Jones, LB (Winter Park, Fla.)
Finalists: Florida, Florida State, Miami, USC
Barring any spectacular upset, this one is all but in the bag for the Seminoles. He has family ties to FSU. Should he look elsewhere, the Gators might be the next team to watch. Prediction: Florida State
66. Ivan McCartney, WR (Miramar, Fla.)
Finalists: Miami, Oregon, West Virginia
There have been some qualification issues raised about McCartney, but for now, he would be a steal for either Oregon or West Virginia. Most lean toward WVU with Miami in hot pursuit. The fans will find out at 9:30 a.m. Prediction: West Virginia
69. Latwan Anderson, DB (Cleveland, Ohio)
Finalists: West Virginia, USC, Ohio State
Anderson committed to the Mountaineers a month ago but has been quoted as saying USC is his "dream school." Meanwhile, instate power Ohio State normally lands any Glenville prospect it wants — should itwant him. Prediction: West Virginia
70. J.R. Ferguson, DE (Chatham, Va.)
Finalists: Cal, LSU, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, Texas Tech
This looks like a two horse race between ACC powers Miami and Florida State. The Canes have the slight edge heading into his 10:45 a.m. announcement. Prediction: Miami
72. Corey Nelson, LB (Dallas, Texas)
Finalists: Oklahoma, Texas A&M
Nelson is still committed to the Aggies but has been receiving the full-court press from the Sooners. The odds are TAMU keeps him but don't count Bob Stoops out. Prediction: Texas A&M
74. Adrian Coxson, WR (Baltimore, Md.)
Finalists: Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame
The former Penn State commitment looks to be heading south. The Gators have long been rumored to be his favorite and barring any major swings in momentum, he will sign with Florida. Prediction: Florida
81. Dietrich Riley, S (La Canada, Calif.)
Finalists: UCLA, LSU, Notre Dame, USC
UCLA has been considered the top dog in this fight. In fact, he hasn't even made the choice yet. "My mind is switching every night," he said recently. USC and UCLA seem to be the favorites. He is set to announce at 4:30 p.m. Prediction: USC
82. Ahmad Dixon, S (Waco, Texas)
Finalists: Baylor, USC, Oklahoma State
This have been one crazy recruitment. Dixon committed to Texas first. Then to Baylor. Then he switched to Tennessee days before the regime change in Knoxville. That led him to switch yet again back to Baylor. OSU has made a late push but has limited space left. This one is wide open but it means so much more to Baylor. Prediction: Baylor
83. Damien Robinson, OL (Olive Branch, Miss.)
Finalists: Arkansas, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Miss. State
The actual decision might not be made until 9:59 — one minute before his scheduled 10:00 a.m. (with Shon Coleman). He has been a man of mystery but Ole Miss and Mississippi State have long been the favorites. Prediction: Mississippi State
85. Matt James, OL (Cincinnati, Ohio)
Finalists: Ohio State, Notre Dame, Cincinnati
Cincy and Notre Dame were the finalists when Brian Kelly was at UC. It has to mean that Notre Dame is the heavy favorite here. He is set to announce at 11:45 a.m. Prediction: Notre Dame
98. Ricky Heimuli, DT (Salt Lake City, Utah)
Finalists: Utah, USC, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, UCLA
The experts are split right down the middle on this one: Utah and UCLA. However, the Huskies could pull a major upset. He has been dead silent so guessing the home team is the best bet. Prediction: Utah
Other top prospects set to announce (101-150):104. Kadron Boone, WR (Ocala, Fla.)
Finalists: Texas Tech, West Virginia, LSU, Louisville, Georgia
Boone claims he has never decommitted from Texas Tech but picked the Red Raiders because of the offensive system they ran. That has changed with the coaching switch and Boone has been looking around. LSU feels like it has a strong shot at swaying him away from Lubbock. Prediction: LSU
107. Gabe King, DE (Eugene, Ore.)
Finalists: Cal, Oregon
Following the King saga has been interesting. First, he moved 3,000 miles from North Carolina to Oregon. The experts are almost in total agreement that he is headed to Cal, which could influence Keenan Allen and Chris McCain. Prediction: Cal
108. Shon Coleman, OL (Olive Branch, Miss.)
Finalists: Auburn, Ole Miss, Alabama, Miami
The fast-rising prospect has been committed to Auburn for months but recently opened up his recruitment. The three finalists are nearly equal and predicting this one is a total crap shoot. He is set to announce at 10 a.m. with his AC100 teammate Damien Robinson. Prediction: Auburn
117. James Stone, OL (Maplewood, Tenn.)
Finalists: Alabama, Tennessee
This has been a two team battle for a long time. The Tide have been considered the team to beat but a late push by the Vols may have swayed him to stay in state. He is set to announce at 11:30 a.m. Prediction: Tennessee
128. Demar Dorsey, S (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.)
Finalists: Florida State, Michigan, Tennessee, USC
A longtime Florida Gator commitment, Dorsey very recently opened up his recruitment. Rumors about off-the-field incidents, grades and coaching turnover at Florida have been swirling as to why he is no longer a Gator. He has family on the Michigan squad and USC is making a hard push but the Noles have long been No. 2. He announces at 1 p.m. Prediction: Florida State
139. Christian Thomas, TE (Palmdale, Calif.)
Finalists: Oregon, USC, Miami, Oregon State
A national recruit, Thomas has recently been very impressed with the Trojans. They might be the team to beat when he announces at 4 p.m. Prediction: USC
